Biography

David Whitehouse, MD is a seasoned psychiatrist with practical experience that covers every area from undeserved populations in the US, International populations in the UK, Japan, Malaysia, India and Brazil, and every delivery avenue from rural community health, to academia, from hospitals to telemedicine, as well as PBMs to employer on-site clinics. His managed care experience includes over fifteen years at both CIGNA and Optum. Leveraging extensive experience as a strategic, outcome-focused clinical entrepreneur with a record of innovative solutions, actionable plans, and measurable results for large companies facing competitive market challenges, Dr. Whitehouse has been a leader in the field in the areas of technological innovation in medicine, system transformation, personalized medicine, integrative neuroscience, tele-medicine, and clinical research.

Throughout his executive career, Dr. Whitehouse has held a number of leadership positions. Before joining Able-To he worked as physician consultant at “mcg” the ultimate source of evidenced based guidelines in medicine, whose guidelines serve as the source of truth in determinations of “value” and medical necessity for both providers and payers in the USA and abroad. Before that he worked closely as an advisor and consultant to several start-ups and innovative healthcare companies such as Senscio, the leading delivery system in augmented home-based monitoring and remote complex care management company, as well as Total Brain and served as investment consultant to CerraCap Ventures. Previously, Dr. Whitehouse held the titles of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Head of Digital Health Transformation with UST Global, a leading digital technology services company that provides powerful solutions for Global 1000 companies, helping them navigate critical digital transformations to derive higher business value. Dr. Whitehouse also acted as Executive Medical Officer and CMO with Catalyst RX (now Catamaran), where he guided the development of the first use of avatars in the mobile health space. Before that he was CMO for Strategy and Innovation at Optum Health Behavioral Solutions and CIGNA Behavioral Health (formerly MCC) before that. He is a frequent presenter at industry conferences, as well as broadcast media and publications including a regular column in the past for DMEC.

Dr. Whitehouse holds an MD from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, a ThM and ThD in Religion from Harvard University, an MBA from the University of Connecticut and both a BA and MA in Medicine and Theology from the University of Cambridge. Dr. Whitehouse currently sits on the Boards of BrainNet, TaoConnect, CerraCap, PSI International, Spring Health, Senscio, Sanative Health, Vivace  and PharmD Live.
