Biography

Dr. Patel has a rich background in health and health policy, previously working at the Brookings Institution on health care reform and physician payment. Dr. Patel also served in the Obama Administration as director of policy for the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement in the White House, where she played a key role in the design of health care reform legislation.

Dr. Patel also has a deep understanding of Capitol Hill from her time spent on the late Senator Edward Kennedy’s staff. As deputy staff director on health, she served as a policy analyst and trusted aide to the Senator and was part of the senior staff of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee under Senator Kennedy’s Leadership.

In addition to these accomplishments, Dr. Patel serves on the board of several organizations including SSM Health, Sigilon, SelectQuote, Radiology Partners, PGDx, Pathfinder, Everside and Strive. She is also a Venture Partner at New Enterprise Associates where she advises health service companies.

Past board experiences include Dignity Health, Tuple Health, Tesaro, Physician Parent Coalition, Community Catalyst.

She has also served on the HHS Physician Focused Payment Technical Advisory Committee.
