Biography

Leanne Chrisman-Khawam, MD, MEd., is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in the Department of Social Medicine, The Director of The Transformative Care Continuum, an accelerated 3+3 family medicine undergraduate and graduate medical education continuum at Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at MetroHealth Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and Medical Director of MetroHealth’s Doctor on the Street (DOTS) program. Dr. Chrisman’s areas of expertise include behavior change, healthcare communications, leading change in health systems, curricular redesign, and competency assessment strategies. Receiving a Josiah H. Macy Foundation grant “Transforming the High functioning Care Team into an Inter-Professional Education Team,” she is also Co-PI, American Medical Association, “Accelerating Change in Medical Education Initiative, (AMA ACE).” She serves on AMA ACE Health Systems Science subcommittee, NBME Health Systems Science examination item-writers. Chrisman’s research appears in International Journal of Psychiatry in Medicine, Journal of American Osteopathic Association, and been presented at national conferences including: Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Annual Conference, Annual Forum for Behavioral Sciences, AMA ACE Annual Spring Consortium, the STFM Leading Change in Health Care Fellowship, The ACGME Annual Educational Conference, and Association of American Medical Conferences’ Conference for the Central Group on Educational Affairs (CGEA) and AACOM.
